Meet the Team

About Haeon

My name is Haeon, and I'm a Korean-Canadian nonbinary queer therapist who specializes in complex issues like C-PTSD, treatment resistant mental illness, relational issues, grief, identity, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, and chronic stress.

I live at the intersection of many marginalized identities and have personally struggled with severe mental illness, trauma, poverty, and discrimination based on my racialization, gender, sexual orientation, and social location. I know what it's like to feel unwelcome, crazy, desperate, and hopeless. I know what it's like to constantly feel like you're on the outside.

Despite these challenges, I grew and healed. I resisted. I rested. I cried. I spent a lot of time in the hospital, in my therapist's office, at the pharmacy. From a young age, I wanted to help, to right the wrongs in this world, but it was only as my own wounds began to close that I was able to do so in a healthy way.

Therapy is such meaningful work to me. It excites me, it challenges me, and it makes me feel human. I do this work because I truly love it and because it works! I hope many of you get to experience the alchemy of therapy for yourselves.

When I'm not being a therapist, I'm a partner, artist, academic, and parent of two wonderful critters (a dog and a bird). I spend my free time reading, hiking, weightlifting, and creating art. I mend clothes, write poetry, and stare at cool plants. Most of all, I try to live, which means I experience suffering, joy, and everything in between.

It's been more than difficult to get to this place, but I made it, and I know you can make it too.

About Flower

My name is Flower and I’m a sweet senior therapy dog in training! I’m a mutt rescued from Manitoba Mutts and Haeon has been my best friend for the last 9 years.

I started working alongside Haeon as a therapy dog in 2024 and have loved all the pets and snuggles from our clients as they’ve been working through the hardest parts of being human. Although I’m not a human myself, I can tell in my own ways that it’s tough out there for y’all! It makes me happy to support all the humans who come into our office in the ways that I can (usually through happy tail wags, encouraging sniffs, and deep empathetic sighs).

My favourite things include treats, naps, and meeting new friends. Haeon and I like to walk at all the different off-leash dog parks around town and explore hiking trails across Canada whenever we get the chance.

If you’d like me to be present at any of your sessions, please let Haeon know! I hope to meet many of you in the coming days.

Location

Our cozy little office is located at 196 Osborne St. on the second floor and is stocked with tea, art supplies, toys, and books for you to peruse.

Although there are plans to put an elevator in, my office is currently only accessible by stairs.

There is a free parking lot behind the building and lots of free street parking as well.
